Embodied:Intent

Designing Trust Through Interaction

Embodied:Intent is a workshop concept designed to help interdisciplinary product teams understand how design decisions influence trust in digital systems. Through hands-on interaction with a physical robot, participants experience the impact of competence, integrity and benevolence firsthand, enabling more conscious product decisions.

Theresas Artwork

Creating a Customer Experience for a Creative Business

I designed and developed the complete digital presence for my own art business, from brand identity and user experience to a custom-built website and social media presence. The platform was iteratively improved through user feedback and has since generated commissions from clients across multiple European countries.

Designing Navigation for MBUX

During my 6-month internship and subsequent year as a working student at Mercedes-Benz, I worked on the UX and interaction design of the MBUX navigation system for future production vehicles. My work included evolving the map experience and interaction logic, contributing to a component-based design system, and collaborating with international UX, research, visual design and development teams.

One of my main responsibilities was independently designing a user-centered navigation feature - from the initial idea and competitive research to interactive prototypes, stakeholder presentations and the final handoff to development for MB.OS. Working within a complex product environment taught me how to balance user needs with technical constraints and business requirements, while communicating design decisions to different stakeholders.

This project would easily have made it into my Favorite Projects. However, as most of my work is still confidential and the product is currently in development, I’m unable to share the process, concepts, or design decisions in the depth they deserve. Instead of presenting an incomplete case study, I chose to highlight the experience and what I learned from working on a real-world product at this scale.

Where Design Meets Engineering

Before moving into UX and Product Design, I trained as a Technical Product Designer, which gave me a strong foundation in engineering, construction and manufacturing. Today, I continue to apply this knowledge by designing components and assemblies for sim racing simulators, mainly focusing on sheet metal parts for small-series production. Using SolidWorks and FreeCAD, I develop solutions such as hardware mounts and custom PC enclosures that integrate seamlessly into the overall simulator.

My work goes beyond creating 3D models. I take components from an initial technical requirement through CAD construction to production-ready drawings with dimensions and tolerances. The designs are then manufactured as prototypes, evaluated and refined where necessary before moving into small-series production. This process requires me to constantly balance functionality, available space, manufacturing constraints and the visual integration of each component into the final product.

What I enjoy most is solving technical problems through a combination of spatial thinking, functionality and design. My background in engineering has shaped the way I approach Product Design today: I naturally think about how individual components interact as part of a larger system and how constraints can become a driver for better solutions. Whether the outcome is a physical component or a digital experience, I’m motivated by the same idea - turning something abstract into a thoughtful product that creates real value for the person using it.

More Explorations

During my studies in User Experience Design at Hochschule Darmstadt, I expanded my background in physical product development into the digital world. The interdisciplinary program allowed me to explore UX and UI Design, User Research, Interaction Design, prototyping and development, while working on projects from the initial problem and research to concept development and implementation.

What I valued most was the freedom to experiment across disciplines and approach problems from different perspectives. Working on individual and collaborative projects taught me to question assumptions, communicate ideas, iterate based on feedback and understand design as a process rather than just a visual outcome.
